Achillea 'Paprika', Paprika Yarrow is easy to grow, drought loving and long blooming perennial. The salmon rose flowers are flat-topped clusters with white centers. Yarrow foliage is fragrant with a fern-like appearance. Deadhead for prolonged flowering. Excellent for both fresh and dried flowers.

Large clusters of red flowers with a gold center. Domed canopies sit atop a sturdy, upright clump of grey-green foliage. After the red flowers are finished, when left to dry on the stems they turn a lovely shade of buff yellow.

Alchemilla mollis, Lady's Mantle can be used as groundcover and as a border plant. The leaves are it's best feature as they offer a soft green gray color that adds vibrancy to the shade garden. The leaves are also palmate and scalloped - allowing them to beautifully hold morning dew or rain drops. The flowers are a chartreuse bundle visible in early summer and are interesting cut or dried. If grown in full sun, Alchemilla will need more water. 

Allium 'Summer Beauty', Summer Beauty Ornamental Onion, features large flowers on strong stems for an extended bloom time.  Neat, upright foliage after flowering.  Drought tolerant. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. Self-sows freely; deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. Flowers are good for cutting.

Great for a rock or herb garden. Narrow, blue-green leaves are twisted, emerging from the base in a spiral pattern. Round, lilac-pink flower clusters stand atop leafless stems.

Sometimes grow to tree size, but is most often considered a large shrub. Foliage is a dark green above and light yellow-green underneath.

In fall, the foliage changes to a vibrant yellow and red. In Spring white flowers appear in upright clusters that give way to fruit in June.

The leaves on this selection are thicker and glossier than Autumn Brilliance and provide a great fall color.

Artemisia 'Silver Mound', Silver Mound Wormwood is best used for its bright silver foliage. They do best in dry, well drained soils in mostly full sun. Prune to prevent from looking weedy later in the season. Great for container and rock gardens too.

Bright orange clusters of flowers appear. During late summer, seedpods appear with a smooth surface that is slightly hairy. Eventually they will split open and relase the seeds. Attrached are large tufts of white hairs. Dispersing the seeds by the wind. The nectar attracts bees, wasps, various butterflys and Hummingbirds.

So gorgeous, sky blue flowers with yellow centers brighten up the fall garden. More likely to come back perennially if planted in the spring or summer.

Bright raspberry pink, slightly fragrant, open triangular plumes on red stems. One of the longest blooming Astilbes. Great in containers or in the garden.

Astilbe 'Visions', Visions False Spirea has fatter leaves and plumper flower spikes than most other Astilbe. Visions in particular fills in borders perfectly and adds great texture to the partial shade garden. Dappled shade is really the best garden for Astilbe where a little bit of sun promotes flowers. Deadhead for more flowers too. 

Astilbe chinensis 'Delft Lace' is a new variety with deep blue-green foliage with reddish stems that hold up nice soft pink-peach foliage.

Astilbe chinensis 'Maggie Daley' has dark green shiny foliage with dense upright lavender plumes.  More drought tolerant than other Astilbes!

Astilbe chinensis 'Purple Candles' aka (Purpurkerze) this late blooming large Astilbe has dark green foliage with very tall flower plumes.

Astilbe chinensis 'Visions in Pink' has dark green foliage with sturdy stems of pale pink plumes.

Astilbe chinensis 'Visions in Red' has compact bronze green foliage with thick stems.  Although the name says 'Visions in Red' this Astilbe has vibrant purple flowers.

Creamy white plumes turn light pink as they mature. Busy foliage starts out marbled with silver and green and then turns solid green as it matures.

Astilbe 'Deutschland', Deutschland False Spirea, blooms with the brightest white plumes.  Astilbe performs best in partial shade and moist, well drained soil. The white flowers stand out in the twilight garden and can be cut for arrangements. 

Astilbe japonica 'Montgomery'  has reddish bronze foliage with red stems and dark red plumes.  My favorite Red!

Astilbe japonica 'Rheinland' is the most popular pink.  Vigorous plants with very floriferous clear pink plumes.

Astilbe 'Hennie Graafland' has extremely glossy green foliage with delicate pink plumes!  More compact than other Astilbes excellent for containers.

Astilbe simplicifolia 'Key West' has dark burgundy foliage with carmine-red flowers.  The foliage creates an excellent contrast with the bright flowers fantastic container plant.

Astilbe simplicifolia 'Sprite' was the 1994 Perennial Plant of the Year.  Astilbe 'Sprite' is a late season bloomer on short compact foliage with delicate drooping shell pink plumes.

Athyrium pictum, Japanese Painted Fern, is a wonderful addition of texture and color to the shade garden. Silvery foliage with red tints make this fern stand out in the shade and also bright in the container garden. Pair with purple-leaved Coral Bells for a great color combination.

A hybrid cross between Japanese Painted Fern and Lady Fern. Sports stunning frosted apple green fronds that seem to emit a ghostly white light in the shade. Dark purple stems hold the fronds upright.

Lush, finely textured, medium green fronds. Radiate out from the center of the crown. At maturity, the stems turn dark red. It is a vigorous grower, but spreads relatively slowly and doesn't run.
